THE BLUES MAMAS AT WORK
THE MISSISSIPPI BLUES MAMAS HAVE EXCELLED IN PROMOTING THE BLUES
Carol Marble and Peggy Brown met several years ago. Each had seen each other at blues events and realized the uniqueness of what each one was doing at that time in the promotion of blues in Mississippi. Introducing themselves to each other, they began to occasionally collaborate on joint projects and soon became known as the Mississippi Blues Mamas. So, throughout the years they each developed their own companies and bodies of work but also have continued to collaborate on joint projects. Each has been asked many times “just what is it that you do?” There is a complex answer to this question with overlapping answers.
They have traveled the blues highway along with musicians and bands to the well known festivals and clubs, but also to the small out of the way jook joints and blues sites on the backroads of Mississippi, the Mississippi Delta and also throughout the United States, Canada and Internationally. During this journey they have taken hundreds of photos and listened to many blues stories.
